SL 12s back in World Series!--See below

It's time to Sign-Up for Fall Ball:

There are two options for Fall Ball Registration.  Registration is open until August 13, 2010.

First, you can register on-line at the following link:

*On-Line Registration includes a $5 Adminstrative charge.

Major/Minor (Ages 8-11) - $65 

Rookie (Ages 6-7) - $55

Tee-Ball (Ages 4-6) - $55

  

Eligibility:

Children ages 4-11 on or before April 30, 2010 may register for the Fall Ball League.  Additionally, children who are 4 years of age by September 1, 2010 may also register for the Fall Ball League.

Fall Ball is scheduled to run from August 15th to September 30th with all weekend games being played on Sunday.


SL 12s rally to reach World Series

12 Year Old World Series Bracket 

12-year-old Ohio Valley Regional Scores: Single-elimination tournament: SL 4, Clay Co, IN 1 (championship game); SL 4, Crown Point, IN 3; SL 14, Vincennes, IN 2. Pool Play-SL 7, Vincennes, IN 3; SL 2, Clay Co, IN 1 (8 innings);  SL 18, Marshall, IL 0.

South Lexington's 12-year-old Red Team All-Stars rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning for a 4-1 victory over Clay Co, IN Tuesday night in the championship game of the Ohio Valley Regional in Vincennes, IN.  The 12s trailed 1 -0 entering the bottom of the fifth,  but scored four runs after two outs to gain SLYB's fourth consecutive berth in the Cal Ripken 12-year-old Major/60 World Series. South Lexington has won three Ripken World Series crowns (or its Babe Ruth Bambino predecessor), most recently in 2007 and has reached the series' final four the past two years. 

Earlier Tuesday, the SL Red team defeated Crown Point, IN 4-3 in a semifinal thriller.

The Major/60 World Series starts Aug. 12 in Wilson, NC and runs through Aug. 19.  SL plays in the tournament's opening game at 12:30 pm (EDT) on Aug. 12 against tthe New England region champion.  It is in a pool also with the Southwest and Pacific Northwest region winners plus the Eastern North Carolina state champion.  Pool plays run through Aug. 16 and a six-team, single-elimination tournament starts the following day.  

SL 11s begin Regional play Friday

The SLYB 11-year-old Red Team begins play in the Ohio Valley Regional in Logansport, IN Friday, July 30 and the tournament runs through August 2.  The 11s play three games in pool play format and then a single-elimination championship round.  The SL 11s first pool game is Friday, July 30 against the Northern Indiana State runner-up at 11 am (EDT) and then another game the same day at 6:30 pm (EDT) with host Logansport, IN.

Finally, the SL Reds conclude pool action against the Central Indiana State champion at 12 noon (EDT) Saturday, July 31. The championship round features the top three teams in each pool and starts Sunday, Aug. 1 and concludes the following day.

3 SLYB Rookie teams in Regional:

8-year-old Ohio Valley Regional: SL Red 8 finish as runner-up.

Three SLYB Rookie League teams are competing in the 8-year-old and under Coach Pitch Ohio Valley Regional which comes up July 23-26 in VIncennes, IN. The three SLYB teams (Red 8, Blue 8 and Red 7) are divided in each of the tournament's three pools.

As with the older age groups, the 8 and under Coach Pitch uses the pool play and then single elimination format.
